Poorly equipped library: problem fixed at Institut La Victoire thanks to citizen monitoring
At Institut La Victoire (Uvira, Sud-Kivu), the Integrity Club reported on EduCheck: poorly equipped library. Within 74 days and through « Funding from an external partner », the school fixed the problem.
Institut La Victoire welcomes its pupils every day in Uvira (Sud-Kivu). Like other schools followed by EduCheck, it has an Integrity Club: student monitors trained by the Anti-Corruption Research Centre (CERC) to observe their school with a shared questionnaire, report problems on EduCheck and talk with those in charge until they are solved.
The problem
On 20 December 2025, the Integrity Club reported the following problem at Institut La Victoire: poorly equipped library.
Without textbooks or materials, pupils depend entirely on the blackboard and learn less.
The problem was published on the school’s page and sent to the school management.
The dialogue
The monitors opened a dialogue with the school management:
- Funding from an external partner
The result
The fix was recorded on 4 March 2026, 74 days after the report.
The monitors will check the fix during their next visit; the problem will then move to « Verified ».
This success shows what citizen monitoring makes possible: a problem made visible, a dialogue with the right people and a verified solution, for the benefit of pupils.
Your school can change too
Students, parents and teachers trained by CERC monitor their school and talk with those in charge until problems are fixed.
