No project management committee: problem resolved at École primaire Lumière thanks to citizen monitoring

Illustration : information et dialogue

At École primaire Lumière (Bagira, Bukavu, Sud-Kivu), the Integrity Club reported on EduCheck: no project management committee. Within 63 days and through « Meeting with the school management », the project fixed the problem; the monitors checked the fix on site.

The « Construction de 3 salles de classe » project is meant to improve École primaire Lumière (Bagira, Bukavu, Sud-Kivu). Student monitors of the school’s Integrity Club, trained by the Anti-Corruption Research Centre (CERC), follow the works with the EduCheck questionnaire to check that what was promised is delivered.

The problem

On 13 February 2026, the Integrity Club reported the following problem at École primaire Lumière: no project management committee.

When information is public, the community can follow what was promised and ask for accountability.

The problem was published on the school’s page and sent to the project management committee and the contractor.

The dialogue

The monitors opened a dialogue with the project management committee and the contractor:

  • Meeting with the school management

The result

The fix was recorded on 17 April 2026, 63 days after the report.

During their visit on 11 October 2026, the monitors checked the fix on site: the problem moved to « Verified » on EduCheck.

This success shows what citizen monitoring makes possible: a problem made visible, a dialogue with the right people and a verified solution, for the benefit of pupils.
