Materials badly stored: problem fixed at Institut Mabele thanks to citizen monitoring
At Institut Mabele (Mont-Amba, Kinshasa), the Integrity Club reported on EduCheck: materials badly stored. Within 77 days and through « Meeting with the school management », the project fixed the problem.
The « Construction d’un bloc de 8 latrines » project is meant to improve Institut Mabele (Mont-Amba, Kinshasa). Student monitors of the school’s Integrity Club, trained by the Anti-Corruption Research Centre (CERC), follow the works with the EduCheck questionnaire to check that what was promised is delivered.
The problem
On 10 November 2025, the Integrity Club reported the following problem at Institut Mabele: materials badly stored.
Materials that were paid for must reach the site: every diverted bag means a weaker building.
The problem was published on the school’s page and sent to the project management committee and the contractor.
The dialogue
The monitors opened a dialogue with the project management committee and the contractor:
- Meeting with the school management
The result
The fix was recorded on 26 January 2026, 77 days after the report.
The monitors will check the fix during their next visit; the problem will then move to « Verified ».
This success shows what citizen monitoring makes possible: a problem made visible, a dialogue with the right people and a verified solution, for the benefit of pupils.
Your school can change too
Students, parents and teachers trained by CERC monitor their school and talk with those in charge until problems are fixed.
